Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat in June

April 22, 2017

The next Rachel’s Vineyard retreat in the West of Scotland will take place in June (13th-15th). This is a retreat for those who have been involved with abortion and are struggling afterwards. Open to women who have had abortions themselves, men who have lost a child through abortion, anyone who has been involved in an abortion decision (for example friends or family members) and healthcare workers who have taken part in abortion. Through companionship, prayer and activities based on passages of scripture, this retreat takes you on a journey from despair to hope. It is amazing to see the transformation that takes place in those who attend the retreats. The retreats are Christian based but are open to people of all faiths and no faith.

There is more information on the Rachel’s Vineyard website http://www.rachelsvineyard.org.uk

If anyone would like to go on the retreat, please get in touch with Sr Andrea (phone: 07816 942824, email: sisterandrea@rachelsvineyard.org.uk). All contact is kept confidential.

Also please keep this retreat in your prayers- that those who are hurt by abortion will be brave enough to come and seek healing and will apply to come on the retreat, that the team leading the retreat will be blessed in their preparations and that God will work in the hearts of all those involved.

Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat

February 8, 2017

rv-broken-heart

Rachel’s Vineyard is a safe place to renew, rebuild and redeem hearts broken by abortion. Weekend retreats offer a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental environment where women and men can express, release and reconcile painful post-abortive emotions to begin the process of restoration, renewal and healing. The retreats run worldwide and happen 3-4 times each year in Scotland.

Sr Andrea and her team will be leading a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat this weekend. Please pray for the team as they prepare and for all the participants – that God’s grace and healing will be present to each one of them.

In the autumn of 2016, Sr Andrea trained a group of women in Scotland to speak in churches about how awful it can feel for a woman to have had an abortion and the secrecy that so often surrounds this experience for the rest of her life. Also to explain the Church’s merciful and compassionate teachings for those who have had an abortion and to make people aware that Rachel’s Vineyard retreats exist and are an amazing source of grace and healing to those brave enough to reach out for it. Here is an extract from the “Rachel’s Vineyard appeal”:

“Do not imagine that people opt for abortion because they think it’s a good idea. The vast majority present at our hospitals because of emotional, financial, material pressures that have them totally trapped in a corner so that the only viable option seems to them to be abortion. The challenge for us as a society is to help her deal with those emotional, financial, material difficulties so that she can have her child in peace. If we love the mother, then the child will be fine, because no one is more prolife than the mother.

Since very often it’s not something she actively wanted but did, in the end, agree to, the sense of regret and loss is immense. She is suffering a genuine bereavement but no one comes up to her and says, “I’m sorry for your loss.” No one consoles her in her grief. And she doesn’t look for consolation either because she doesn’t think she deserves it. And so she remains silent. She’s silent, too, because she’s terrified that the people she loves will reject her and that others will judge her. She’s silent because she thinks that to look for healing is to say she’s alright with what happened, she’s over it, she’s forgotten the life that was lost. But that is a mistake! There’s a bad way of remembering, that intensifies pain and destruction; and there’s a way of remembering that gives life. Pope Francis said, ‘Our infinite sadness can only be cured by an infinite love.’ It’s that love that gives us hope.”

Sr Andrea will be leading a Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat this weekend, for post-abortion healing. We have all been busy with preparations over the past few days. Collecting cakes that have been baked by volunteers, making bouquets of flowers, collecting greenery, making up bags of sweets and decorating place names. Please pray that all will have a blessed weekend and experience God’s healing.

Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat

January 14, 2015

Next month there will be a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat in Scotland for people who are in need of healing due to an abortion decision. These weekend retreats can be very powerful and definitely aid the healing process for women and men hurt by abortion.
With just over a month until the next one, would you pray for those considering going?
Pray that they would find the strength within them to go, and that God would use the Rachel’s Vineyard setting to allow healing and peace in their hearts.
Pray for those who will be leading the retreat too, that their love and compassion would serve as a reminder of God’s presence and mercy throughout the whole weekend.

If you’re not sure what to pray, why not start with the following prayer the women who are suffering today, because of an abortion.

Eternal Father,
Source of all mercy and love,
out of love for us you sent your Son,
and willed that blood and water
flow from his side to cleanse us of sin
and restore lost innocence.
Hear the cry of each woman who mourns
the loss of her child to abortion.
Forgive her sin, restore her to your grace,
and still the terror of her heart
with a peace beyond all understanding.
Through the intercession
of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of all tenderness and our Mother,
strengthen her faith in you.
Give her the consolation to believe
that her child is now living in the Lord.
We ask this through Christ our Lord,
who conquered sin and death,
and who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
