Dignity for babies who have died in the womb

Clothes made for babies who are miscarried or stillborn. A beautiful gesture to give proper human dignity to babies who have died in the womb.

Shrine of St Joseph

September 8, 2015
At the Shrine of St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer in Santa Cruz, California, the Oblates of St. Joseph in 2001 have erected a bronze statue of a seven foot tall St. Joseph seated on a curved bench holding a six month old fetus in his hands. St. Joseph faces another curved bench where a person may sit in prayer. The artist, Thomas Marsh, has made St. Joseph’s facial expression to reflect God’s love, the gravity of the situation, grief, forgiveness, protective strength, tenderness and comfort for the baby, and peace. The baby has his arms extended above toward a perpetually burning light which will represent Christ. The area is enclosed by two semi-circular barriers for a sense of privacy. These barriers will also hold little plaques engraved with the names of aborted or miscarried babies that have been entrusted to the Lord through the hands of St. Joseph

Saying Goodbye

August 25, 2015

On Saturday 19th September, 11.00 am at Glasgow Cathedral in High Street there will be a Saying Goodbye service for all parents who have lost a baby. It is organised by the Mariposa Trust whose core objective is to support people who have lost babies at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy
We know that as 1 in 4 women suffer miscarriage and baby loss, so the chances are you will have contact with a significant number of people who have either personally suffered baby loss or are close to someone who has
So who is the service for? Anyone who has either personally lost a baby at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in early years, or anyone who has been affected by a family member’s or friend’s loss. Whether the loss was recent, or 80 years ago everyone is welcome. Babies and children are also invited to come with their family, as the Saying Goodbye service is truly a family event for all.

7 weeks Old & His Humanity is Clear!

March 3, 2015

Some pictures say more than words ever can and this is certainly one of them.  A baby miscarried at 7 weeks and born completely intact shows us and the world the true humanity of this tiny child.

As the family relates about their miscarried son David:

“I had a miscarriage on Palm Sunday last year. We think he was a boy and named him David Raphael.

My only prayer when the doctor told me at 11 weeks that my baby had died a month earlier (at 7 weeks gestation), was that I would have something to bury. The doctor said he would either be too small to find or that his fragile body would be crushed in the miscarriage process and there wouldn’t be anything left.

On Palm Sunday afternoon he came out. The entire sac was in tact and there he was still floating in the amniotic water.

I took a picture so I wouldn’t forget that moment and how God answered my prayer. I think it would be an amazing photo to show people contemplating abortion. Even though he was only 7 weeks when he died, you can see his little arms and legs forming.

My 4 year old was looking through my phone when I wasn’t looking one day and found the picture. He came up to me with it and asked me whose baby it was. Even a child can tell that at 7 weeks, the fetus is a little person.”

Thank You Lord

October 28, 2014

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of my children, those who are living and those who reside in heaven with You. While we can’t know Your ways, we know that You are merciful and loving and that you take care of those who call out Your name. You know the pain of seeing Your Son suffer. Please be with me as I long for my own son and all my children who have gone to be with You. Ease my pain and unite my suffering to Christ’s. Thank you for the gift of holding my children in my dreams; please hold them close to You until they fill my arms once again.
