Fertility Forum

March 12, 2018

The Fertility Forum is open to individuals who are interested in and excited about promoting the Church’s teaching on Humanae Vitae. The group comprises NFP users, NFP teachers, mums, school teachers, healthcare professionals and the Sisters! The last Fertility Forum meeting was on Tuesday 27th February. We had a great discussion and have made a plan. Initially, we are going to pilot small group video courses and get together packs with ideas to make parishes more family friendly. No doubt there is plenty more to be worked on in the future.

The next Fertility Forum meeting will be on Tuesday 1st May, 7pm, Cardinal Winning Pro-Life Initiative. Please email us (gospeloflifesisters@googlemail.com) if you have any ideas or want to get involved, even if you are unable to attend the meetings. The meetings are open to anyone who is interested and you don’t need to have come to previous meetings to attend.

Fertility Forum: Tuesday 27th February

February 22, 2018

The next meeting of the Fertility Forum will be on Tuesday 27th February at 7pm, at the Cardinal Winning Pro-Life Initiative, 104 Albert Road, Crosshill, Glasgow, G42 8DR. The forum is open for anyone to attend and you don’t need to have come to a previous meeting or be an expert. Please email gospeloflifesisters@googlemail.com if you plan to attend, there is some background information to be emailed out to participants.

The Fertility Forum was created to facilitate discussion about how to promote the Church’s beautiful teaching on fertility and sexuality. We had our initial brainstorming meeting in January, which was a great success and had 21 participants. The discussion was divided into several areas: methods of NFP, apps, NaPro Technology, marriage preparation and education (within the family, parishes and schools). Some thinking has gone on since then and several participants have contributed paragraphs about these areas of discussion. We look forward to continuing the discussion on Tuesday, as there is a need for more initiatives to develop to promote fertility awareness. Please join us if this is a topic you are interested in.

Fertility Forum: 23rd January

January 5, 2018

Just a reminder that you are invited to a brainstorming session on fertility, on Tuesday 23rd January at 7 pm, at the Cardinal Winning Pro-Life Initiative. If you are able to attend, please let us know by email to gospeloflifesisters@googlemail.com  Also please pass on invitation to anyone else who may be interested.

50 years on from Humanae Vitae, we are all aware of the widespread scepticism and disregard of the Church’s teaching on family planning and artificial reproductive technology. There is need for a renewed effort to counter this scepticism and replace it with the joyful message of the gift of fertility.

We want to bring together the various groups and individuals interested in promoting the Church’s teaching on fertility, with the aim of co-ordinating our efforts to effectively promote an appreciation of fertility, counter the contraceptive mentality of society and promote a Catholic approach to infertility. We want to hear about what you are already doing and what ideas you have for the future.

We are looking to include ideas on any of the following areas:

·         Education of children and young people- within families, schools and youth groups

·         Marriage preparation

·         NFP teaching and research

·         Infertility and NaPro technology

·         Increase awareness of NFP amongst healthcare students and professionals

·         Resource bank and directory of services

Aware that the issues involved may take some preparation, if you have any resources you think it would be useful for other participants to know of in advance, please email back with a link to more information. These resources will be compiled into one email and sent out to participants in advance of the meeting.

God bless,

Sr Jess (on behalf of the Sisters of the Gospel of Life)

My Fertility Matters (MFM) Project Training

February 14, 2017

The award winning MFM Project runs fertility education workshops for boys and girls in their pre-teen years. We are looking for women and men to become trainers.

“ I can only protect what I value and respect.”

mfm-girls-workshopmfm-boys-workshop

In a society where sex education is geared towards protecting young people from fertility (with negative connotations such as sexual abuse, STIs, abortion), this education programme seeks rather to teach young people to value their own body as a treasure and thus protect their fertility.

The girl’s workshop is titled ‘The Cycle Show’: the girls sit around the stage of life, made of colourful, beautiful materials. They experience what is going on inside their bodies through interactive elements, age appropriate props, storytelling and music.

The boy’s workshop is titled ‘Agents on a Mission’: a James Bond style adventure around male anatomy, with lots of physical exercise. They also learning about the female body and fertilisation of an egg creating a new life.

Take home message – every one of us was a ‘double champion’ at the start of our lives – made from the champion sperm and the queen egg.

Have a look at their website here: www.mfmprojectuk.org

We would like to bring these fertility education workshops to Scotland and are looking for women and men who would like to train to teach these workshops. Women teach the girl’s workshop and men teach the boy’s workshop. Please get in touch with Jess if you are interested- email almjess@hotmail.com. And you can also contact the UK Co-ordinator Hilary Hodgson info@mfmprojectuk.org

There is training scheduled in Bollington, Cheshire this year:

Men’s training (“Agents on a Mission”): Thursday 20th April – Friday 21st April

Women’s training (“The Cycle Show”): Saturday 6th May – Sunday 7th May

If there is sufficient interest, then we can also organise training in Glasgow at a later date.
