Campaign Launch for St John Ogilvie Statue at Glasgow Cross

June 26, 2017

The Knights of St Columba are leading a campaign to have a statue of St John Ogilvie at Glasgow Cross, which was the site of his martyrdom in 1615. The campaign officially launches on Sunday July 23rd at St Andrew’s Cathedral cloister at 3pm and it would be great if you could come along to show your support.

There will be a public rosary in honour of Saint John Ogilvie and a scene from the acclaimed play “The Martyrdom of St John Ogilivie” a work by Stephen Callaghan.

It promises to be a great day for a great Scottish saint!

The video below explains why a statue of St John Ogilvie at Glasgow Cross is important:

Rejecting the Lure of Sin

February 14, 2016
Pope St. John Paul II

Pope St. John Paul II

“To believe in Jesus is to accept what he says, even when it runs contrary to what others are saying. It means rejecting the lure of sin, however attractive it may be, in order to set out on the difficult path of the Gospel virtues.” (Pope St. John Paul II; WYD Toronto Welcoming Ceremony; July 25, 2002)

February 14, 2016

We are so happy to join in the wishes sent to John Deighan and send him our warm CONGRATULATIONS!   Mr John Deighan, Chief Executive of SPUC Scotland , has been honoured by the Holy Father by being made a Knight of Saint Gregory. This is in recognition of his work for the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, both in his current position, and as Parliamentary Officer for the Catholic Church at the Scottish Parliament. A Mass of Investiture took place on Thursday 11th February at 7pm in St Mirin’s Cathedral. It was a great event and John was joined by his extended family and friends.
