Persevering and Opening Doors

“We are kidding ourselves if we don’t acknowledge that it does stop a beating heart—however defective, weak or unwanted that heart is. And that’s because the heartbeats I heard that day in the doctor’s office were so rhythmic and insistent, already so full of life.” Ronnie Koenig

This quote comes from a prolife point of view but not so very long ago, Ronnie Koenig believed in abortion wholeheartedly.  It was only a chance remark that changed her mind and made her realise that the beating heart we hear on the ultra sound taken in the early stages of pregnancy, mean that there is life behind the beating heart.  This seems quite obvious to those of us who have always believed this but, for those that don’t believe we are dealing with a human life in the womb, it can be a long hard road to this realisation.

How can we step outside our comfort zone and reach out to those who disagree with our views, especially when aggression can be mixed in with exchanges?  It’s not easy or simple but we need to keep talking about the wider issues instead of letting those who believe in abortion keep the topic narrow.  Persevere and keep calm and clear.  Giving up is not an option.

When a person’s eyes are opened to the full reality of what abortion means, viewpoints can and will change.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were
making his appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:20

Fortieth Anniversry event.

October 26, 2007

As many of you will know tomorrow (Saturday 27 October) marks the 40th anniversary of the Abortion Act of 1967. The last four decades have seen seven million abortions taking place in Britain. To mark the anniversary, pro-life groups across the country have organised a variety of events, and we urge you all to get involved, to discuss, and most of all to pray.
For those of you in Scotland – On Sunday we will be hosting a ‘Culture of Life’ event here at the Initiative. As part of the on-going Meaning of Life series, the event is an opportunity for young – and not so young – people to celebrate the culture of life. The evening will include performances of poetry, drama, dance and singing, and will be an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and rejoice in the miracle of life!

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.

God bless.
