The Bazaar will feature all the usual favourites - a Tombola, a raffle, crafts and home baking, as well as an “Advent Extravaganza” of singing and stories (sorry, Santa Claus will not be making an appearance) and free shortbread , mince pies and mulled wine for all!

The final talk in the Meaning of Life series will take place tomorrow (Sunday 25 November). Alison Simith will give a talk entiltled ‘Called to discipleship’. As usual, 7pm, 104 Albert Road.
Apologies for the lack of recent posts - the last few days have seen a stepping up in preparations for our annual Advent Bazaar, which will take place on Saturday 1 December. The Initiative has been a hive of activity as we’ve been organizing the various elements of the day’s activities.
This has been our main focus of late, but here’s a quick summary of a few other things that have been going on.
Sr Andrea celebrated her thirty-third birthday on Sunday. The count down has been a running joke in the office over the last few weeks and we’ve already started the next one - only 360 sleeps to go!
Sr Roseann left today for a visit to Rome, where she will be speaking to students at the Pontifical Scots College next week. She will then travel to London for a meeting of the trustees of the FAITH Movement.
We’ve started the process of assembling the various Christmas gifts we give to the families we work with - a considerable task that will continue throughout the coming weeks.

The Meaning of Life talk series continues tomorrow (Sunday 11 November). Fr Paul Brooks will be speaking on the Church, in a talk entitled ‘I am with you always’. 7pm, 104 Albert Rd, Crosshill.
Recently we’ve had a few queries about the Day for Life podcast Sr Andrea recorded about the Sisters of the Gospel of Life.
You can listen to it here:
Or you can download it as an .mp3 here.
We used this collection of pro-life quotes and pictures at our ‘Culture of Life’ evening, and quite a few people asked us to send it to them, so we thought we’d put it up here in case anyone found it useful.
The method by which PowerPoints are uploaded isn’t particularly helpful for downloading, so if anyone would like the original file just ask and we’ll send it.
Today the Sisters are off to Birmingham for Sr Andrea’s graduation. Sister will be awarded a B.A. in Divinity, with first class honours no less!
Disaster was averted yesterday when Sr Andrea actually informed Maryvale that she would indeed be attending the graduation ceremony, only a month after the official deadline.
We’ll be posting pictures from the ceremony, being held tomorrow in St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham.

As reported last week, Sr Andrea was asked to go to Benbecula to speak to school children and parishoners on pro-life issues and we promised pictures of her visit. Unfortunately, despite three attempts, Sister didn’t make it to Benbecula (though on the first try the plane did circle over the island for twenty minutes, before turning back to Glasgow due to weather conditions). Another attempt was made laster that day and again the next morning, but in the end Sister had an unexpected weekend in Glasgow. Apparently this is quite a common occurence for flights in and out of Benbecula - however two days in a row is unheard of (spot the common denominator!) She’ll be trying again in January so hopefully that visit will be more successful!
